Welcome
As Vice-President, Administration, I have the pleasure of working with a variety of people whose collective objective is to enhance the Acadia experience.
We are one of Canada's oldest universities, with one of the country's best reputations for academic excellence. Acadia also has a strong pioneering spirit that started more than 170 years ago, when the community came together to cut the trees that would become the first of Acadia's academic buildings.
Today, Acadia continues that pioneering spirit by building on the success of our Sustainability through Facilities Innovation Initiative. This program, in partnership with Johnson Controls, was designed to reduce consumption of electricity, fuel oil, and water across campus through a redesign of building systems.
The University is completing a sustainability assessment process through the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. Once complete, the Arthur Irving Academy of the Environment will work to develop programming for our campus community based on the assessment.
Working together, we hope to further reduce the University's ecological footprint, which is a key component of our Strategic Plan.
